IBKR is a bitch to integrate with, alpaca is easy. I had the same execution experience with paper trading .. I imagine the live trading execution is better. I ran their scalping demo for a while and web sockets kept crashing. Never had a problem with web requests. Sorry I dont have an answer as I havent used IBKR only Alpaca.
But TradeStation margins and commissions are higher. And it isn't uncommon for them to remove or increase their day trading margin in periods of volatility, which is the case now.
