And why?Both .357 Magnums are medium-to-large frame double-action revolvers with full-sized grips and a choice of several barrel lengths (three, four, and six inch barrel lengths in the Ruger’s case). Both revolvers have an adjustable rear sight & front sight (except for the three-inch GP100). Both weigh about the same. It is unlikely that the new barrel will index correctly so you will need to remove material from the shoulder on the barrel and that will require resetting the barrel-cylinder gap and probably recutting the forcing cone. All other things being equal the 6" will have better potential accuracy due to the longer sight radius. But the difference is small and accuracy is going to be more dependent on the shooters abilities.

I have a 4" 66-1 and a 4" Security Six and they both use the same holster, so I would guess if you find a k-frame holster with the same barrel length it should suffice.

Hello all, New guy here. I got my first Ruger a few months back and well, let's just says it's never getting sold. It's a 1979 Security Six with 2.75" barrel in .357 mag. These things are built like tanks. I almost had an opportunity buy her sister in stainless steel but the deal fell through. Oh well, I'll keep my eye out for another.
