Personally I haven't had this happen, but I guess it depends on the version your playing and also how many mods you may have, sometimes on Nomad when I'm using vanilla weapons the weapons will have a texture glitch and turn yellow along with my hands and arms. Slightly less graphics and slightly less content for much, much more freedom.
