Point the gun in a safe direction. Hold the slide firmly in your weak hand. Now slam your strong hand into the back of the grip being sure to depress the grip safety as you do it. Remember the grip safety, if not depressed, will keep an XD locked shut. Hit it several times to free the stuck cartridge from the gun.
