A trap with a patent date obviously was not made before that date and in some cases not made until several years after. A #2 1/2 Newhouse patent date trap would have been made approximately between 1902 and 1916. In 1902 O.C. was making Newhouse traps in two U.S. factories, Kenwood, N.Y. and Sherrill, N.Y. The Kenwood factory closed around 1904.

A while back we were discussing the differences in the #44 Newhouse. So here are some pictures of what I think is the production line of the trap. #1 pic. is a small pan #4, O.C. Newhouse, circa 1882-95. Joined: Feb 2021. Posts: 1,209. Pennsylvania. I recently got 7 Newhouse #4 traps at a auction. There nice traps and pans are about 95% legible. You can read Newhouse on a few of the springs and some I don't see anything on the springs. There is very light coating of rust on these traps.
During this period in Newhouse bear trap production Newhouse was using up leftover hand forged springs so some traps came out of the factory with both styles, the old forged springs and the new modern machined springs. This trap is a beauty. 1350. shipped. Attached Files:
