John deere 1780 planter problems.
#1. I'm going to look at a 1780 12/23 planter with vac units. I'm used to finger pickup units, so how much hydraulic flow does it require to run a planter of that size? I have read about the negative tongue weight. That's one of my complaints with our black machine. Will trash flow through with the units only staggered 10 inches?

RUN from the 1780, it will push loose dirt in front of the center and around the flex on the wings. We bought a packer just to get around the situation. I think the inter plant planters work great for narrow rows, but unless you plant corn in 15" rows I would have one planter for corn and one for beans. The added weight of the planter will work against the corn yield.

I've seen the problem worse on Deere's 1780 style planter with the longer hitch on the 6/11 or 8/15 planters causing more side pressure on turns. I've always welded the units with no long term problems. The max emerge XP cast shanks first used in 2004 don't have this problem.Contact your local John Deere dealer for more information.
