As it turns out, it’s one of the guns that I’m positive Ithaca themselves in their current iteration would rather not have to think about again. So why is that? Let me explain. I noticed that on the 30" magnum barrel, for the same gun, (will handle 3" shells) only has one of the two ports open. The guns cycles perfectly with field loads. The slug barrel has both ports open.

You have to push the carrier release each time. However, it should extract shell from chamber every time, and not double feed. May be a problem there.I have a 1980 - 1981 Ithaca Gun Catalog (Ithaca Guns 1880 - 1980 a centuty of American guncraftsmanship) and it shows the specs for the Model-51 (Standard Vent, Vent Magnum, Deluxe Trap, Deluxe Trap M.C, and Deluxe Skeet). Overall I personally think it shoots nicer with less felt recoil than the Remington model 1100. The gun is very easy to take apart for a good cleaning and feature roto forded barrels.
