I've got a full storage locker of smart fabric and I have maybe a dozen silk generators. Normally, you cant deconstruct when inside the room there is something more, like storage or machines, etc… try to completly empty the room and then deconstruct it. If you have the materials, build a ladder to climb out and then you can deconstruct.
