Believe it or not, there are some traps that are rare and collectible. In here I will include a little on two groups of these traps. One of these groups were called NEWHOUSE traps, and there were said to be the best traps in the world.They were made by a man named Sewell Newhouse who was born into the trade of blacksmithing in 1806.

The Newhouse clamps have a narrower spin on the back as well as a shorter neck on the screw handle. Some Newhouse clamps, all but the tear drop #6 clamp, it is most likely Herters. Also note that on the steer horn clamps, there is a narrow model for the forged spring traps and a wide model for the machine spring that have a wider neck.
The #31 & 1/2 and the #21 & 1/2 had been discontinued a few years earlier. The #21 & 1/2 was brought back into the line in 1911 as well as the #44, #48, and #81 & 1/2 was introduced that year.
