I have a 930 and I think the 940 added some of the OR3GUN parts to address the issues with the 930. I have a 930 jm pro tactical series. It works well with all loads. After about 100ish rounds of break in, it has run flawlessly. It does get incredibly dirty very quickly around the gas system. Im a fan.

The Beretta 1301 is so much better than the Mossberg 940. Consider a benelli m2. I shoot lots of 3gun with it, and take it waterfowl and upland hunting (minus the mag tube of course). Lots of aftermarket support, only minor tweaks needed to get it 100% ready for 3 gun. 1301.

The most obvious potential issue with running a 940 piston in a 930 is the shorter piston length would allow the external gas ring to partially leave the cylinder.
