John deere gator clutch problems.
1 post · Joined 2022. #1 · Jul 23, 2022. Hello - I own a 2019 John Deere xuv590M Gator and the clutch will not release at idle making it hard to shift gears. I understand the primary clutch can be tuned to fix this problem. Do you have a contact of someone who can tune the clutch?
First try throughly cleaning both clutch's with hot soapy water and or non chlorinated brake cleaner followed by compressed air. Transmission won't shift due to clutch disengagement issueAs the nine speed increases, the primary (one on the engine) should close and the secondary should open. Idle RPM at 930 RPM, in specs. I know there are past comments about this reoccurring problem, but haven't seen any lately.

Afraid I'm going to break the shift handle . Shifts fine when not running . It's just 12 months old.6x4 secondary clutch spring. My mom purchased a 2005 6x4 gator without knowing what's what in the world. She brought it to my place to look it over. The secondary clutch spring (clutch that's closest to the driver) is all screwed up. Like it partially unwound or something. New member. Had a similar problem on my 6x4 gator--sounded like piston rattle. thought it was a secondary clutch, but finally figured out it was the drive chains slapping because they were loose. It first had problems with clutch, then front differential, so I sold it and purchased a Yamaha Viking EPS and I have had it nearly a year with no problems it shifts gears real good, and no problems with clutch and e wheel drive.

I'm rebuilding my AM140986 drive clutch and the rollers had flat spots. If you order the Comet clutch wide roller kit, part number 214920A, you will get new rollers and washers/shims that work on the Gator clutch.
