Mathews phase 4 vs hoyt vtm.
The reason I ask is that the Mathews have been coming in pretty heavy vs what mod they have on. 3 - 4 lbs over isn't uncommon. I shot the new Hoyt VTM 31, Hoyt RX7, and the Bowtech Carbon One before trying the Phase4 29. I now have the Phase4 29 in subalpine and quite enjoy it. It is quiet, fast for my draw length and after a 4 hour session at Austin Archery Club I can say it was pleasant without any stress on my arms or shoulders. I shot a matthews phase 4 29 and the new hoyt vtm 34 as well. My takeaway was I didn't like the way the matthews fit my hand. It felt a little top heavy, not crazy but kind of noticeable and could've used a back bar. The vtm 34 was awesome at anchor bc it felt less scrunched up but I could literally feel my pinky shake with the shot like vibrating.Both companies are very proud of the bows they make. It will probably be as accurate as a VTM as well. The main upside to the VTM is the better cam and tuning system. The VTM uses shims and will therefore hold its tune longer.
The Mathews has a more flexible weight system, bridgelock cutout, a long riser that holds steady, and is slightly faster than the ultra pound for pound. They are almost the same bow IMO. The VTM 34 has a true center shot at around 3/4”, in other words the arrow is coming straight out of the bow at that distance. The V Pro 33 was closer to 5/8”. So I much prefer the VTM from that aspect. The VTM also has the hole in the riser for the drop away rest which is nice.

I don’t love the Mach30 but I think it’s a solid offering and fills a niche. Mathews and the weight they got back to on their bows, the aesthetics of them, and they at minimum didn’t go backwards in performance.
