Impala knocking noise.

Overhauled and about 2 weeks later, I'm hearing a knocking sound and also, my thermostat is moving up and down and I smell something burning. I keep my maintenance up on my car, so therefore my engine oil is clean.

It would not be from "bad" gas, Only gas with an octane rating lower than your engine requires will cause knocking (detonation) which sounds like marbles rattling around under you hood. If that doesn't do anything, change from dash vent to floor vent. If that doesn't do it, switch your temperatures.
