an earlier 69-70 block as a rule of thumb can handle more then the rest of the 70s, and those can handle more then the roller blocks. now with that said it all comes down to how well it is built and most importantly how well its tuned. a bad tuned 351 can split at a few hundred HP, i have seen 69-70 blocks put down a little over 700 to the wheels.In like 2002 the drives were beefed up a bit. I know a guy running 600HP through a stock 2003 Bravo 1 for 3 years and he does not baby it. It is on a much smaller boat though. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy a spare drive. Heavy trq in the lower gears and RPM ranges is what really chews up gears. 800whp/trq will severaly limit the life of the transmission, but all depends on how you drive the car, and how hard and continually you abuse it. It would not surprise me, if a daily driven car could survive even more than 800whp+.
