The redeemer gets a 50% damage increase from it, whereas other lower tier weapons double their damage. Due to how Armor works in this game, 50 damage can effective immediately give a weapon x5 times more damage against certain enemies. Not Bad for mid game. But late outlaw with double DMG clearly is superior.

Shotguns however are fantastic and bows are really good too. The bowstring draw mechanic is nice. Them getting rid of various ammo types for ranged weapons, however, sucks. If you want to be OP, become a Berserker and get Fire Rain up to lvl 5.
