Jan 9, 2022 · I used a Ford IDS scan tool to get DTC 1086:07 which is a mechanical fault code for the Mode Door Actuator, and the procedure in the shop manual tells you to replace the actuator. I replaced it with a Dorman 604-288 which is the proper fitment. With the engine running, push the floor vent button and the fan to high. Then manually rotate the gears (that the actuator would normally turn) with your fingers until you find the position that the fan is blowing the hardest out of the floor vents. Once you find that position, then re-attach the actuator.
