Scatter nades can kill quicker to proc Devour in a pinch, but Vortex lasts longer and keeps the debuff up longer. Though with Scatter/Manacles you have Old Gods for even longer debuff duration and additional regen.It has higher burst dmg so its real nice for getting that quick devour pop. Contraverse has a slower playstyle that involve letting enemies cook in your nade. it has much higher total dmg, but it takes longer to dish it out. Contraverse can feel better or worse depending on activity and the difficulty level.Best used with Echo of Undermining and the Chaos Accelerant Aspect. Before Void 3.0, when you could use Handheld Supernova with any grenade, this exotic was great. The pull from an overcharged grenade is powerful and ensures you get atleast 1 kill to proc devour. Pve definitly vortex because it can proc the exotic perk twice over the duration. You can also make wells twice because the vortex grenades duration is longer than the internal cooldown of the well mods. Vortex is king.
