Feb 13, 2013 · My OM617 was in an 84 (also had 85) 300D that was stock. I read a lot of folks getting in the 40's but never did anyone on the Benz forums claim such. My experience was 22-24 mpg on diesel and WVO with no discernible difference in power between the two. Gearing, weight of the vehicle, tires size, mod's etc. are all going to play into the equation. 31 mpg in a 1979 300SD! I don't know if this is typical of these cars, but ive been getting between 27 and 31 mpg in my well-worn 300sd. The last fuel-up yielded 31.77 mpg. It has seemed to go up with the ambient temperature. I also add about a half quart of ATF to every approx. 16 gallons.Separately there is an 11" bar with a 3/4 hole drilled, for some allthread, and two sockets (pipe) welded on at ends to capture car jacks.
